Diseño de un proceso para el aprovechamiento de los residuos orgánicos generados en el proceso de extracción de la pulpa de Fruta

DescriptionThe following research study aims to provide a comprehensive solution to one of the most common environmental issues at the present times: the management of solid wastes, but more specifically, organic solid residues, which are found in greater numbers, in comparison with other sorts of solid wastes. Solid residues have generated an overwhelming impact given the disproportional growth of the world´s population, the various processes of industrial transformation and society´s consumption habits. On the same note, the consequences of improper waste disposal have become an important item to discuss, as more environmental and social issues have worsened, because of the proliferation of suspended particles, more bodies of water are being contaminated, and the scourges of greenhouse gasses continue deteriorating human health of the hand of more epidemics. In the light of the foregoing, it is important to seek for a solution that contributes to the correct management of residues and thus, enhance the final products of these processes to minimize environmental impacts. For this quest, we opted for a regional scope by focusing only on the Valle del Cauca. In doing so, we identified which solid residue could be found in greater proportions within the fruit pulper industry, or the one that is causing the largest environmental degradation. Subsequently, we proceeded to make a characterization of the enterprise, through secondary sources and environmental assessments that allowed us to evaluate the components and attributes of the solid residues that could be identified. Afterwards, we underwent a process of evaluating new alternatives which will enable a better and more efficient use of those solid wastes. To this effect, we collaborated with the company Rapipulpas to conduct a pilot test to prove the validity of our research As a result, this project, successfully, carried out the design of a model to process industrial solid wastes generated by the fruit pulp extraction. This approach will hopefully allow the companies of the fruit processing industry to take environmental and financial advantages from the management of solid residues, based on the methodology presented in our research study.
