The main point of the analysis has to do with an area which has been studied very little and is not homogeneous. It consists of a first look at those areas of society where justice is administered at local level through institutions or by procedures which are outside the judicial state apparatus. Before beginning a theoretical consideration of this subject, the idea is to observe the ways in which the state monopoly of justice really works, and to identify the factual phenomena with which to regard justice in modern times. This argument rests on the hypothesis that the State does not necessarily have a monopoly in justice administration in modern societies.El texto presenta panorámicamente las dinámicas de la administración de justicia en el nivel infraestatal de las sociedades modernas. El eje de análisis se ubica en un terreno poco estudiado y poco homogéneo. Se trata de dar una primera mirada a los escenarios de la sociedad en donde se administra justicia en los espacios locales, a través de órganos o procedimientos ajenos al aparato judicial del Estado. La idea es, antes de iniciar una reflexión teórica sobre este tema, observar las maneras como se da en la realidad el pretendido monopolio en la administración de justicia por parte del Estado e identificar fenómenos fácticos sobre los cuales pensar la justicia en nuestro tiempo.
