dc.description.abstractLas enfermedades neurodegenerativas se encuentran en aumento tanto a nivel mundial como en Colombia, específicamente en el departamento del Quindío, debido a su alta población de adultos mayores. Este tipo de enfermedades afectan su grado de funcionalidad y su calidad de vida. Por tal razón, se hace importante estudiar las habilidades de cognición social preservadas o deterioradas en los adultos mayores que padecen esta enfermedad. Así, la presente investigación tenía como objetivo comparar las diferencias en el funcionamiento de las habilidades de cognición social en adultos mayores con demencia según su etiología, bien fuera de origen neurodegenerativo, vascular o mixto. En la investigación participaron 80 adultos con diagnóstico de demencia: 30 neurodegenerativa, 25 vascular y 25 mixta, a los cuales se les aplicó un protocolo que incluía dos escalas de medida de la cognición social el test Mini SEA y el test IRI. De lo cual se obtuvo como resultado que no existe una diferencia significativa entre los tres grupos evaluados, todas están por encima de 0.05, sin embargo, se puede concluir que todos, sin importar el tipo de demencia, presentan alteración de los resultados para la medida general de la cognición social.
dc.description.abstractengNeurodegenerative diseases are increasing both worldwide and in Colombia, specifically in the department of Quindío, due to its high population of older adults. These types of diseases affect their degree of functionality and their quality of life. For this reason, it is important to study the preserved or impaired social cognition skills in older adults who suffer from this disease. Thus, 5 the objective of this research was to compare the differences in the functioning of social cognition skills in older adults with dementia according to their etiology, whether of neurodegenerative, vascular or mixed origin. The research involved 80 adults diagnosed with dementia: 30 neurodegenerative, 25 vascular, and 25 mixed, to whom a protocol was applied that included two scales for measuring social cognition: The Mini SEA test and the IRI test. From which it was obtained as a result that there is no significant difference between the three groups evaluated, all are above 0.05, however, it can be concluded that all, regardless of the type of dementia, present alteration of the results for the measure overview of social cognition.
