dc.description.abstractEstudios recientes han evidenciado que un alto porcentaje de la población infectada por COVID-19 sufre pérdida del olfato, así como diferentes síntomas neurológicos y neuropsicológicos asociados. La presente investigación consiste en establecer si existen diferencias entre las características neuropsicológicas de las personas adultas que presentaron COVID-19 con y sin anosmia. Este estudio es de tipo cuantitativo, modalidad no experimental, diseño transversal. La muestra incluye 60 participantes con edades entre los 27 y 59 años con test positivo para COVID-19 (IgM, IgG o PCR) realizado entre el 11 de marzo del 2020 y el mes de junio del 2021 y nivel de escolaridad de mínimo tercero de primaria, se evaluaron de forma global los procesos neuropsicológicos de memoria, atención, lenguaje, praxias, gnosias, funciones ejecutivas y aspectos emocionales, los datos fueron analizados con el estadístico U de Mann-Whitney obteniendo como hallazgo un impacto estadísticamente significativo de la afectación olfativa asociada al SARS COV-2 en los procesos específicos de memoria visual, fluidez fonológica y semántica, inhibición, flexibilidad cognitiva y velocidad de procesamiento.
dc.description.abstractengRecent studies have shown a high percentage of the population infected with COVID-19 who suffers loss of smell, and different associated neurological and neuropsychological symptoms. The present study attempted to establish if there are differences between the neuropsychological characteristics of adults infected with COVID-19 with and without anosmia. This study is quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample includes 60 participants aged between 27- and 59- years old, with a positive test for COVID-19 (IgM, IgG or PCR) carried out between March 11 2020, and June 2021 and a minimum primary school level. The data were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney U statistic, it was found a statistically significant impact of the olfactory affectation associated to SARS COV-2 in the specific processes of visual memory, phonological and semantic fluency, inhibition, cognitive flexibility and processing speed.
