Abstract
Este trabajo de investigación examina el uso de newsgames como una herramienta innovadora en el periodismo, enfocándose en su capacidad para mejorar la experiencia de y el nivel de engagement. A través de una metodología cuantitativa, se empleó el Cuestionario de experiencia de usuario (UEQ) y Escala de engagement de usuario (UES) para evaluar la percepción y el compromiso de los usuarios con un newsgame sobre la minería ilegal en Colombia. Los resultados indican que los usuarios encontraron el newsgame atractivo, eficiente y fácil de usar, con altos niveles de atención y disfrute. Sin embargo, se identificaron áreas de mejora en la usabilidad. Estos hallazgos sugieren que los newsgames pueden ser una herramienta eficaz para comunicar información compleja de manera interactiva y atractiva, transformando la manera en que se presenta y consume la información periodística.

This research examines the use of newsgames as an innovative tool in journalism, focusing on their ability to enhance user experience and engagement levels. Through a quantitative methodology, the User experience Questionnaire (UEQ) and User engagement scale (UES) was used to assess user perceptions and engagement with a newsgame about illegal mining in Colombia. The results indicate that users found the newsgame attractive, efficient, and easy to use, with high levels of attention and enjoyment. However, usability improvements were identified. These findings suggest that newsgames can be an effective tool for communicating complex information in an interactive and appealing way, transforming how journalistic information is presented and consumed.
