dc.description.abstractEl presente estudio tuvo como propósito validar El Laberinto, un instrumento digital diseñado para evaluar habilidades visoespaciales y de planificación en niños de 5 a 10 años, con y sin discapacidad auditiva. La muestra estuvo conformada por 101 participantes, 74 presentaban un desarrollo típico y 27 discapacidad auditiva, pertenecientes a una institución educativa regular y al Instituto para Niños Ciegos y Sordos de Cali, respectivamente. El estudio adoptó un enfoque cuantitativo, instrumental, empleando como herramientas de medición el Test de Inteligencia No Verbal TONI, la Batería Neuropsicológica de Funciones Ejecutivas (BANFE-3/BANPE) y la prueba El Laberinto. Se analizaron las propiedades psicométricas de fiabilidad y validez convergente del instrumento. Los resultados evidenciaron un bajo nivel de dificultad en los tres laberintos, así como un alto desempeño general en la muestra. La consistencia interna fue baja (α = ,332) y la validez convergente resultó débil. Por otra parte, se identificaron diferencias significativas entre los grupos, con un mejor rendimiento por parte de los niños con un desarrollo sensorial neurotípico. Pese a sus limitaciones, El Laberinto constituye una propuesta innovadora en la evaluación cognitiva al incorporar tecnología tridimensional. Se recomienda ajustar el instrumento incrementando la dificultad de los ítems, incorporando más elementos distractores a cada laberinto y considerando el tiempo de respuesta como criterio de desempeño, para mejorar sus propiedades psicométricas. Este estudio destaca la necesidad de desarrollar herramientas diagnósticas cultural y sensorialmente pertinentes para la población infantil con discapacidad auditiva que midan objetivamente a niños con un desarrollo neuropsicológico diverso.spa
dc.description.abstractThe present study aimed to validate El Laberinto, a digital instrument designed to assess visuospatial and planning skills in children aged 5 to 10 years, both with and without hearing disabilities. The sample consisted of 101 participants, 74 with typical development and 27 with hearing disabilities, from a regular educational institution and the Institute for Blind and Deaf Children of Cali, respectively. The study adopted a quantitative, instrumental approach, using the Test of Nonverbal Intelligence (TONI), the Neuropsychological Battery of Executive Functions (BANFE-3/BANPE), and the El Laberinto test as measurement tools. The psychometric properties of reliability and convergent validity of the instrument were analyzed. The results showed a low level of difficulty in the three mazes, as well as a high overall performance in the sample. Internal consistency was low (α = .332), and convergent validity was weak. On the other hand, significant differences were identified between the groups, with better performance by children with neurotypical sensory development. Despite its limitations, El Laberinto represents an innovative proposal in cognitive assessment by incorporating three-dimensional technology. It is recommended to adjust the instrument by increasing the difficulty of the items, adding more distractor elements to each maze, and considering response time as a performance criterion to improve its psychometric properties. This study highlights the need to develop culturally and sensorily relevant diagnostic tools for children with hearing disabilities that objectively assess children with diverse neuropsychological development.eng
