Abstract
En la vereda El Arrayán, ubicada en el municipio de Caloto, Cauca, se enfrenta una problemática relacionada con el acceso al agua potable. Esta comunidad rural, con aproximadamente 150 habitantes, depende de la quebrada El Chocho como fuente principal de agua. Sin embargo, la falta de infraestructura adecuada de distribución ha limitado el acceso de las familias al agua potable, afectando su calidad de vida y las actividades productivas esenciales para la comunidad. Actualmente, solo 40 de las 70 viviendas en la vereda cuentan con acceso al agua potable mediante un abasto; las otras 30 dependen de mangueras de riego, lo que resalta la necesidad urgente de expandir la red de distribución. La instalación de un sistema de tuberías eficiente es crucial para garantizar un suministro constante y seguro, mejorando así las condiciones de vida de los habitantes y promoviendo el desarrollo sostenible de la región. Este proyecto busca diseñar un sistema de abasto que no solo satisfaga las necesidades actuales de agua de la comunidad, sino que también considere su crecimiento futuro. Para lograrlo, es necesario identificar y evaluar varios subproblemas, el diseño del sistema de tuberías, los costos de implementación y mantenimiento, el impacto ambiental, y la capacitación de la comunidad en la operación y mantenimiento del sistema. La implementación de un sistema de distribución de agua potable para la vereda El Arrayán es fundamental no solo para evitar problemas de salud y mantener el bienestar de sus habitantes, sino también para asegurar la sostenibilidad del recurso hídrico. Este proyecto representa una oportunidad para aplicar conocimientos técnicos en la solución de un problema real, contribuyendo significativamente al desarrollo social y económico de la región. De esta manera, el diseño de un abasto eficiente y sostenible en El Arrayán establecerá las bases para una mejor gestión del recurso hídrico, garantizando así un acceso continuo y seguro al agua para toda la comunidad.

In the rural area of El Arrayán, located in the municipality of Caloto, Cauca, there is an ongoing issue related to access to potable water. This rural community, with approximately 150 inhabitants, relies on the El Chocho stream as its main water source. However, the lack of adequate distribution infrastructure has limited families’ access to potable water, affecting their quality of life and essential productive activities. Currently, only 40 of the 70 households in the area have access to potable water through a supply system; the remaining 30 depend on irrigation hoses, highlighting the urgent need to expand the distribution network. Installing an efficient piping system is crucial to ensure a constant and safe supply, thereby improving residents’ living conditions and promoting sustainable development in the region. This project aims to design a supply system that not only meets the community’s current water needs but also considers future growth. To achieve this, it is necessary to identify and evaluate several sub-problems, including the design of the piping system, implementation and maintenance costs, environmental impact, and community training in system operation and maintenance. Implementing a potable water distribution system for El Arrayán is essential not only to prevent health issues and maintain the well-being of its residents, but also to ensure the sustainability of the water resource. This project represents an opportunity to apply technical knowledge to solve a real problem, significantly contributing to the social and economic development of the region. In this way, the design of an efficient and sustainable supply system in El Arrayán will lay the foundation for better water resource management, thus guaranteeing continuous and safe access to water for the entire community.
