dc.description.abstractContexto: La esperanza es un recurso psicológico y espiritual que mejora la calidad de vida y promueve el bienestar en el contexto del cáncer, una de las enfermedades con mayor tasa de mortalidad mundial y localmente. Objetivo: Describir los significados de la esperanza en la práctica clínica de hemato-oncólogos en Colombia. Método: Investigación cualitativa con diseño fenomenológico. Mediante una entrevista semiestructurada participaron ocho hemato-oncólogos clínicos de Colombia, seleccionados por muestreo por conveniencia y bola de nieve. Para el tratamiento de la información se aplicó la técnica de análisis temático y el método CQR; y se procesó utilizando el software ATLAS.ti. Resultados: Las motivaciones y creencias de los participantes frente al ejercicio de su profesión impactan su desempeño y, a pesar de las dificultades laborales, cuentan con recursos personales que les permiten encontrar satisfacción. Los significados de la esperanza se centraron en el componente motivacional y la orientación a futuro, enfocándose tanto en objetos particulares como amplios. Se identificaron particularidades de estos significados en la etapa terminal de la enfermedad, donde la esperanza puede perderse o transformarse. Se reconoció que la relación médico-paciente es un aspecto fundamental del trabajo de los hemato-oncólogos, que se encuentra estrechamente vinculado con la esperanza. Conclusiones: Los hemato-oncólogos lograron reconocer el vínculo entre la esperanza y su rol profesional, destacando cómo está inmersa en la relación con sus pacientes, y el impacto que genera en su bienestar y sus relaciones. Se recomienda ampliar el significado de esperanza mediante talleres y diálogos con pacientes y colegas.
dc.description.abstractengContext: Hope is a psychological and spiritual resource that improves quality of life and promotes well-being in the context of cancer, one of the diseases with the highest mortality rate globally and locally. Objective: to describe the meanings of hope in the clinical practice of hemato-oncologists in Colombia. Method: Qualitative research with phenomenological design. Eight clinical hemato-oncologists from Colombia, selected by convenience and snowball sampling, participated in a semi-structured interview. For the treatment of the information, the thematic analysis technique and the CQR method were applied, and it was processed using ATLAS.ti software. Results: The motivations and beliefs of the participants regarding their profession have an impact on their performance and, in spite of the difficulties, they have personal resources that allow them to encounter satisfaction. The meanings of hope were focused on the motivational component and future orientation, focusing on both particular and general hope. Particularities of these meanings were identified in the terminal stage of the disease, where hope is either lost or transformed. It was recognized that the doctor-patient relationship is a critical aspect of the work of hemato-oncologists, and it is closely linked to hope. Conclusions: Hemato-oncologists were able to recognize the relation between hope and their professional role, highlighting how it is immersed in the relationship with their patients, and the impact it generates on their wellbeing and their relations. It is recommended to broaden the meaning of hope through workshops and dialogues with patients and colleagues.
