dc.description.abstractEl presente estudio buscó aportar al entendimiento de la realidad de los adultos mayores LG, tomando como punto de partida las implicaciones que tiene el apoyo social dentro del proceso de reconocimiento de la orientación sexual a lo largo de sus vidas, por lo cual el objetivo de la presente investigación fue comprender las experiencias de vidas LG desde el reconocimiento de la orientación sexual y el apoyo social. Para lograr dicho objetivo, el presente estudio fue de tipo cualitativo con un diseño narrativo por tópicos. Los resultados de la presente investigación mostraron que desde edades muy tempranas las personas empezaron a experimentar sentimientos de atracción hacia su mismo sexo, también que el apoyo social de familiares y amigos es un factor de gran influencia en el reconocimiento y aceptación de la orientación sexual. A manera de conclusión, en el presente estudio se descubrió que el proceso de reconocimiento de la orientación sexual en cada uno de los participantes se dio de maneras diferentes, pero a pesar de estas diferencias, en todas las narrativas el apoyo social jugó un papel importante en dicho proceso.
dc.description.abstractengThe present study aimed to contribute to the understanding of the reality of lesbians and gays (LG) older adults, taking as a starting point the implications that social support has within the process of recognition of sexual orientation throughout their lives, so the objective of this research was to understand the experiences of LG lives from the recognition of sexual orientation and social support. This was a qualitative research under a narrative design by topics. The results of the present research showed that from a very early age people began to experience feelings of attraction to the same sex, and also that social support from family and friends is a very influential factor in the recognition and acceptance of sexual orientation. In conclusion, in the present study it was found that the process of recognition of sexual orientation in each of the participants occurred in different ways, but despite these differences, in all the narratives, social support played an important role in this process.
