dc.description.abstractLa prevención de la mortalidad por cáncer cérvico-uterino (CCU) depende de la participación oportuna en pruebas de detección. Los recordatorios enviados a través de tecnologías de información y comunicación representan una oportunidad para aumentar la asistencia a las pruebas de tamizaje. Este estudio se propuso evaluar la efectividad de una estrategia de salud móvil basada en mensajes de texto (SMS) y mensajes de voz (VMS) en la asistencia al tamizaje para CCU en un centro de atención primaria en Nariño, Colombia. En un estudio pragmático, se seleccionaron 618 mujeres de 25 a 64 años que no habían participado en las pruebas de tamizaje para CCU en los últimos tres a cinco años, sin historial de cáncer o hallazgos de tamizaje positivos. Las participantes fueron asignadas aleatoriamente a dos grupos. El grupo de intervención (n=247), recibió recordatorios automatizados, mediante SMS y VMS, durante un período de ocho semanas. El grupo control (n=263), continuó bajo la atención rutinaria del centro de salud. El resultado principal evaluado fue la proporción de mujeres que asistieron a las pruebas de tamizaje para CCU, los resultados secundarios incluyeron el porcentaje de recepción de mensajes de texto y voz. dc.description.abstractPrevention of mortality from cervical cancer (CCU) depends on timely participation in screening tests. Reminders sent through information and communication technologies represent an opportunity to increase attendance at screening tests. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile health strategy based on text messages (SMS) and voice messages (VMS) in attendance at CCU screening in a primary care center in Nariño, Colombia. In a pragmatic study, 618 women aged 25 to 64 years who had not participated in CCU screening in the last three to five years, with no history of cancer or positive screening findings, were selected. The participants were randomly assigned to two groups. The intervention group (n=247) received automated reminders, via SMS and VMS, over a period of eight weeks. The control group (n=263) continued under the routine care of the health center. The primary outcome assessed was the proportion of women attending CCU screening tests, secondary outcomes included the percentage of receiving text and voice messages.
