Abstract
Con el paso de los años, diversos factores han debilitado la figura y el concepto de matrimonio en Colombia cada vez son más frágiles por diversos factores, razón por la cual la ley ha establecido parámetros bajo los cuales se puede dar por terminado dicho vínculo. No obstante, existen muchas parejas que, pese a situaciones totalmente adversas y dañinas en su matrimonio, han decidido permanecer unida por diversas razones, entre las cuales se encuentra el temor del desamparo económico posterior al divorcio. Lo anterior se debe, en parte, al desconocimiento de las garantías establecidas por la ley, bajo las cuales opera la reparación integral para, en este caso en particular, reducir los perjuicios materiales a los que haya lugar.

Over the years, various factors have weakened the figure and the concept of marriage in Colombia, which has become increasingly fragile because of various factors that have become enough for the law to establish parameters under which this link can end. However, there are many couples who, despite totally adverse and harmful situations in their marriage, have remained together for various reasons, among which is the fear of economic helplessness after divorce. The foregoing is due, in part, to ignoring the guarantees established by law, under which comprehensive reparation operates to, in this case, reduce the material damages that may arise.
